Influenza vaccine should be given annually, either during or just prior to the flu season.

Pneumococcal vaccine
If received at age 65 or older, only one dose is required. If you are under 65 then an additional dose is required in 5 yrs.

Together, Flu and Pneumonia
represent the 6th leading cause of death
in the United States. Annually, more than
45,000 people die as a result and 90% of
those occur in persons >65 years of age.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The costs vary according to provider in
the Hillsborough Co. area however,
Influenza is $20-$30
Pneumonia $25 - $40 .

*Medicare Part B may cover the cost.
If you have an HMO or supplemental
insurance, check with your physician
or local health department.

 
 

Where Can I Get Immunized?


Vaccines for flu and pneumonia are available at eight Hillsborough County Health Department Clinics throughout the county.
(excluding the Palm River or 1105 E. Kennedy locations)
