Quarterly Update
Invoicing for 2010-2011 annual licenses will be mailed out at the end of June. Payment is due within 45 days.
The Department of Environmental Protection has updated the required reporting formats for chemicals and
bacteriological samples. They are available at their website http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/drinkingwater/forms.htm.
Starting July 1 all results must be submitted on these new forms. Reports should be filled out completely
and legibly.
Remember, under the new Groundwater Rule, total coliform positive or total e.coli positive distribution
samples must each have a triggered raw sample, along with the required distribution repeat samples.
Please contact us when you receive a positive samle to ensure you are taking the correct number of
repeat samples.
For the safety of water treatment plant operators, safety and protective equipment should
be provided in a convenient location at the water treatment plant. Anyone handling these types of solutions
should wear protective clothing and be safety-conscious of their surroundings. At a minimum, water systems using a
7.0 percent sodium hypochlorite solution or less should have the following items on hand: rubber gloves, goggles, and rubber aprons.
Water systems using solutions greater than 7.0 percent should also have the following available: facilities with good ventilation, a respirator, and an eye wash kit.

Cross Connection Control Program
Plumbing cross-connections, which are defined as actual or potential connections between a potable and non-potable water supply, constitute a serious public health hazard. There are numerous, well-documented cases where cross-connections have been responsible for contamination of drinking water, and have resulted in the spread of disease.
All community water systems are required to have a cross connection control program.
For information concerning Cross Connection Control, visit the Environmental Protection Agency web site or to download their manual.
